This well-established British painter was born in West Yorkshire in 1953. He has been known as the leading “plein air” painter in St. Ives for years, is a member of the St. Ives Arts Club and ran his own successful gallery for many years. His paintings are collected widely and have been sold all over the world. Douglas has exhibited in New Zealand, in the United States and across the United Kingdom.
One of his paintings of St. Ives was used as a cover for a best-selling book by Karen Hayes, “Still Life on Sand” published by Black Swan; several art magazines have also featured his work. Douglas is famous for his large paintings of beaches and coastal scenes depicting light and life in the beautiful, evocative areas of Cornwall.
